this is 2009, op-ed from romney. how does he fight against it isn't the how does he call for it to be removed or repealed at this point? >> this isn't news. obviously this is something that romney said a couple of years ago but it's been out thereto in public. the big question is how will he square what he did in massachusetts with what president obama has done at the federal level. in a general election would they be able to run against ooeeach other. we've seen romney make the case over and over again that you dwounts at the federal level what they did at the state level. if only president obama called him, he could have told him not to do that. romney is going to have to go back to this topic as he has over the course of the primary. >> it's not news. we heard this from him. what i do believe is the news, it seem romney supporters have no, ma'am come up with a solid defense to it. i point to this. eric cantor on "morning joe" asked about this op-ed. let me let you hear their explanation. let's play both. >> if the

newt gingrich did better than mitt romney in this category. go to the lowest end group here and look at this, 65% to 13%. sure, mitt romney won a little bit, but down here his win not so impressive. 46% to santorum's 31%. when you are talking about one of the state's in the country with some of the lowest per capita income, winning with people that make more than $200,000 doesn't get you very far. the darker color indicates places where people have the highest median income. as you can see, there weren't that many that would fall in to a category that romney might have been able to do well with and as you saw from the previous map he did not do well with them. so a tough night on the economy. one more thing that is interesting here. you mentioned it earlier this evening. let's go past this and look at the issue of education. because this is something where mitt romney has tended to do well, the more educated people are. louisiana, as a state, does not have as many people with college degrees or beyond college degrees that a lot of other states

i think that the biggest problem for romney is it going to be obama care and it being similar to romney care. so i think that it's an effective tool to use a candidate's words against themselves. i do have a question, though. i'm curious about with media and the access to media that it tends to be biased, is there any safety guards that you believe are still left in place for integrity and journalism? >> c-span, and steve skully. they're right here. my big beef with the public is so many people in the public only want to hear what they want to hear, and that's a huge problem. there's a market out there for that on both sides of the spectrum, and if the public isn't demanding middle of the road responsible, honest brokered journalism, then it's not going throb. i think we shouldn't let the public off the hook. >> let's go to gettysburg college. >> hi. my name is mallory hewitt and i'm from connecticut. my question is regarding the campaigning this year, there's much greater focus on social issues. i was wondering what you thought how that would play out both in the primaries and also the

erickson not a romney fan. if he wins one and places second in these deep south plates, maybe wins two what's the conversation late tonight? >> i think he was over after ohio. definitely over once he can say i can win the south as well. how he wins the south i'm sure the gingrich and santorum campaigns will come up with excuses if he wins one of them for why he won it. at the same time, i think it's over. >> as a democrat watching this race, you want this to go on and on? >> that would be so sad if it were over. >> oh. >> now, why from a tactical november reason, why? >> because really, the longer that this goes on we've seen from poll after poll that they -- these three candidates are corroding the favorablies for republicans generally so this primary going on would benefit democrats. but you know, i think it's going to be tough for gingrich and santorum to keep at this. but really, the issue, we'll talk about this more, it's not going to be what the candidates want, it's going to be what the candidates' funde
